FAQ

What is this?

Grayscale is an online puzzle game about an anonymous group of students (Grayscale) who investigate mysteries surrounding Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology. It's an ARG, meaning that clues can take almost any form, from news stories, to social media accounts, to real objects within the school. Anything is possible.

Do I have to be a TJ student?

For now, yes.

Why do I need to install a Chrome extension?

The chrome extension allows the game to insert fictional content into third party websites which are beyond our control. The game will never replace existing web pages, but it will show new, plot-related pages that appear to be part of the original web site. These pages can only be found using fairly specific search terms (or using a direct link), so it is unlikely that you could accidentally see one of these pages when not actively playing the game. To be safe, however, we recommend disabling the extension when you are doing school work. This can be done easily in the chrome settings menu under extensions.

Does the extension track me?

The only data we store is which mission you are currently on. We aren't spying on you as far as you know.
